LOCATION: Groote Eylandt, NT
CLIENT: BHP Billiton GEMCO
VALUE: Withheld
ROLE:

The existing housing stock of the GEMCO mining site was old and dilapidated, and nearing the end of its original service life. A strategic accommodation master plan to upgrade 180 houses over five years was implemented to address the ongoing accommodation issues within the Groote Eylandt township.

MCD Australia led the consultant team to scope and tender phase one of the upgrade program. The developed tender package was issued to on-island and off-island contractors to assess the most competitive procurement method and the procurement strategy was a D&C contract with three separable portions, with MCD Australia appointed as Superintendent for delivery. Approximately 100 of the houses were successfully delivered over multiple stages.
