LOCATION: Meridan, QLD
CLIENT: Churches of Christ in QLD
VALUE: $28 Million (Stg 1)
ROLE:

This project is the third of four projects MCD Australia has delivered recently for Churches of Christ in QLD. The Integrated Community is surrounded by green spaces and incorporates a new Community Hub that invites local community groups and on-site residents to be a part of the integrated community lifestyle through use of the Café, Auditorium, Salon and a 25M pool precinct, which was a late addition to the scope of works requiring amended approvals.
The 96-bedroom Residential Aged Care facility was value engineered from the outset using the two previous projects as a benchmark thus a cost saving of $20K per room was achieved on the original project, with improved quality and running costs. The facility was constructed as two structures, one single storey and one double storey, including 14 premium suites with views taking in the adjacent bushland. These new facilities surround a large, secure, landscaped central courtyard and deliver an architectural language sympathetic to the local coastal hinterland vernacular.
The project was successfully delivered in January 2019, with the late addition pools as a Separable Portion, handing over in March 2020.
